COFACE Executive Buro meets Commissioner Micallef to discuss challenge of cyberbullying

COFACE Families Europe had an excellent exchange in June 2025 with European Commissioner Glenn Micallef and team, bringing the voice of families to the EU level, with a focus on cyberbullying.

This included various points:

  • How to empower parents and carers to recognise the signs of (cyber)bullying and to know how to act, whether their child is a victim or perpetrator
  • The important role and responsibility of digital platforms in tackling cyberbullying
  • Building on the extensive expertise of safer internet centres across Europe
  • The vital role of civil society in creating bridges and supporting mediation between families and schools
  • Providing regular trainings of professionals (e.g. teachers, health professionals) to recognise the first signs of cyberbullying
  • The role of employers in creating spaces for parents & guardians to gain key digital (parenting) skills

We stand ready to work with Commissioner Glenn Micallef to support implementation of the upcoming Action Plan to Combat Cyberbullying using a whole-of-society approach.

There are best practices out there which should be highlighted, you can share these directly with the European Commission by responding to the European public consultation. Click here for more.
