eTwinning peer exchange workshop on school bullying

Trainer presenting to the workshop participants

On 23–24 October 2025, COFACE Families Europe took part in the 2025 eTwinning Annual Conference, which brought together teachers, schools, and education stakeholders from across Europe to celebrate and explore how education can foster active citizenship, democratic participation, and shared values.  The conference featured a programme of discussions, practical workshops, and networking opportunities designed to strengthen teachers’ professional skills.

Workshop on school bullying

On Friday, 24 October, COFACE Families Europe and KMOP joined forces to host a peer-exchange workshop on adopting a whole-school approach to bullying. The session aimed to create an open and collaborative space for educators to share experiences and strategies for implementing effective anti-bullying practices within their schools.

Participants included teachers from kindergarten, primary, and secondary schools, representing various countries across Europe. Dr Antonia Torrens, President of COFACE Families Europe and General Director of KMOP, led the session with informative presentations based on the LINK e-learning courses School Bullying Management: Effective Skills for Educators and Understanding Bullying: What Every Parent Needs to Know.

The presentation was divided into two parts:

  • The first focused on preventive and intervention measures to address bullying in schools.
  • The second highlighted the importance of communication with parents and their active involvement in tackling bullying.

Following the presentations, participants engaged in group discussions, offering a space for peer learning and exchange. Educators shared their diverse classroom realities, discussed prevention strategies that work in their contexts, and reflected on challenges related to parent engagement.

At the end of the workshop, participants shared some of their main takeaways. Many emphasised the importance of fostering a strong communication between schools and parents, particularly when addressing bullying. Participants also appreciated learning from peers in other countries who successfully implemented non-punitive approaches to bullying, noting the positive outcomes these methods produced.

Participants left the session inspired to strengthen parent-school collaboration and to continue experimenting non-punitive methods that promote long-term change.
