Background

The European Commission has launched its Guidance on independent living and inclusion in the community of persons with disabilities in the context of EU funding. This Guidance is available in all EU languages here. It is the first time that the European Commission details its own understanding of independent living and how EU Funds can be used to foster the needed transformation of support.

The Guidance covers:

  • The EU’s practical understanding of independent living
  • Policy Orientations for the use of EU Funds
  • Transforming principles to actions
  • Support from EU Funds
  • Monitoring Progress

In response to the publication EASPD, EDF, Inclusion Europe, ENIL, COFACE Families Europe, and Eurochild invite you to a jointly organised online webinar on 11 December at 14:00 CET. This will be the chance to learn more about the new European Commission Guidance on Independent Living and how it can help you in the transformation of support at national, regional or local level.

Speakers

  • Antonia Torrens, COFACE Families Europe
  • Nadia Hadad, European Disability Forum (EDF)
  • Ines Bulic, European Network on Independent Living (ENIL)
  • Francesca Pisanu, Eurochild
  • Lilith Alink, European Association of Service providers for Persons with Disabilities (EASPD)
  • Milan Šveřepa, Inclusion Europe
