Inclusive golf in Monza, Italy

Supported by AIAS Monza (COFACE Disability member) and partners, athletes with disabilities overcome their limitations and can find unique opportunities for personal growth in golf. Opportunities that can be enhanced and multiplied thanks to the sharing and dissemination of this experience, the value of which goes beyond the confines of the green.

With this in mind, Golf Green Monza A.S.D. has set itself important objectives.

  • To introduce young people with disabilities to golf for recreational, sporting and health purposes
  • To scientifically document the benefits and possible health advantages of sports for young people with disabilities.
  • Create interest in the media and give visibility to the initiatives in place to help spread an inclusive culture.
  • Be ready if the Italian Golf Federation decides to have athletes with disabilities participate in the Paralympics.

Golf is an activity that  combines the advantages of practising a sport with the benefits of being outdoors. Furthermore, in the formula developed by Golf Green Monza A.S.D., it combines the strengths of individual sports with those of team games. All this ensures that athletes can express their potential both from a psycho-physical and relational point of view bringing benefits and wellbeing on many levels:

PHYSICAL WELLBEING General improvement of health and physical fitness: several studies have shown positive effects at an organic level, such as better recovery and maintenance of residual motor functions.

MENTAL WELLBEING  Practising a sport supports the development of greater self-confidence and therefore better levels of self-esteem, greater willingness to accept new stimuli and to sustain motivation towards pleasurable activities.

RELATIONAL AND SOCIAL WELLBEING Sporting activity stimulates the ability to interact with others, to belong to a group, the ability to confront others, thus reducing egocentric tendencies and encouraging openness towards others.
