As well as collecting data on families via different expert meetings (see the different meeting reports available on the website), COFACE actively builds bridges with research institutions through formal partnerships under Horizon Europe, and by advising different European research projects on work-life balance, the impact of digital transformations on children, early childhood education and care, long-term care and more. COFACE also supports academic institutions to build new research projects on social rights.

The Project and Advocacy Officer will join the COFACE secretariat in Brussels from early April 2023, working closely with COFACE Director and team members. They will be in charge of coordinating the dissemination work package of Paths2Include, a three-year Horizon Europe research project.
The Right to Decide – Ensuring Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights for Persons with Disabilities
Sexual and reproductive health and rights belong as much to persons with disabilities as to everyone else. Yet lack of knowledge and information often create barriers to access. Women and girls with disabilities also have a clearly higher risk of facing human rights violations such as forced sterilization or denied access to contraception.
Around one in 10 children and young people worldwide have a disability, according to the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF). Children with disabilities are 51% more likely to feel unhappy and 41% more likely to feel discriminated against than children without disabilities. We believe that representing all children through inclusive toys is hugely powerful.

This international distinction comes to reward the most impactful innovations that are changing the face of education in a post-Covid world.
COFACE and the Skills4Parents project partners have developed a number of resources for parents, which have also been referenced in a recent statement of the Alliance for Investing in Children.
On 27th September 2022 in Berlin (Germany), COFACE Families Europe and the Association of German Family Organisations are co-organising a European expert meeting on the implementation of the EU Child Guarantee.
All EU countries had until the 2nd of August 2022 to bring into force the laws, regulations, and administrative provisions necessary to comply fully with the Work-life balance Directive. The Directive contains legal elements that acknowledge the diversity of families in the 21st century, for instance with the mention of “equivalent second parent” under the paternity leave article.
