All EU countries had until the 2nd of August 2022 to bring into force the laws, regulations, and administrative provisions necessary to comply fully with the Work-life balance Directive. The Directive contains legal elements that acknowledge the diversity of families in the 21st century, for instance with the mention of “equivalent second parent” under the paternity leave article.
The Council has adopted conclusions on the EU strategy on the rights of the child, with a particular focus on the protection of children’s rights in crisis or emergency situations. Against the background of Russia’s war of aggression against Ukraine, the Council notes the need to protect children facing armed conflicts and their consequences.
COFACE and AGF are hosting an expert meeting in Berlin to examine the measures highlighted in the national action plans on the Child Guarantee to boost family supports, and boost the implementation of the European Pillar of Social Rights Action Plan.
A Citizen’s Debate by APF France Handicap: Proposals for social protection to meet the challenges of tomorrow
Last October, APF France handicap has launched a Citizens’ Debate on social protection. Through this initiative, the association wanted to experiment with a new form of democracy based on deliberation. They have recently published the result of this work in a citizen's opinion entitled "Social protection and solidarity: what social model for tomorrow?".
