The Spanish member organisation FAMS (Federación de Asociaciones de Madres Solteras) has published a new study examining the relationship between single-parenthood and gender-based violence, with a specific focus on women-led single-parent families in Spain.
Violence against women is not limited to physical or psychological aggression. It also takes a more insidious, but equally destructive form: economic violence. COFACE Families Europe’s member based in Belgium, The Ligue des familles and nine other organizations are calling for a universal and automatic alimony fund, based on the French or Quebec model, through which all alimony claims would pass – not just unpaid situations.
Violence against women and domestic violence are pervasive throughout the EU and are estimated to affect 1 in 3 women in the EU. On International Day of Women’s Rights, March 8th 2022, the European Commission presented EU-wide rules to combat violence against women and domestic violence.
