This week, our member Spanish Confederation of Families of Deaf People (FIAPAS) is launching its 2026 campaign “The double Loss” on the occasion of the International Day of Deaf People. The campaign’s message is clear: losing hearing shouldn’t mean losing rights.
Through this campaign, FIAPAS calls for the National Health System to guarantee access to hearing aids. The System should guarantee the access without discrimination based on age or type of hearing loss.
Alongside the campaign, our Spanish member also published its Institutional Manifesto “The Right to Hear Without Discrimination”. The Manifesto focuses on a reality that continues to affect many deaf people: limitations in access to hearing aid provisions.
As FIAPAS points out in its 2026 Manifesto, 20 years after the adoption of the United Nations Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities, some rights are still not fully guaranteed for all deaf people. Ensuring that these rights become a reality for people in their everyday lives therefore remains an important challenge.
