We are pleased to share a recent campaign carried out by our member National Association of Large Families (NOE) in Hungary. Through the campaign, 5,000 children received the school supplies they needed to start the new school year, supporting 1,700 large families.
The start of every school year can place a significant financial burden on families. For parents raising three or more children, these costs can be high, making this time of the year particularly challenging.
In this joint campaign with Auchan Retail Hungary, 1,080 NOE volunteers helped collect 108,338 donated school supplies in Auchan stores in just 12 days across the country, helping 1700 large families ease the financial pressure.
The school supplies collection, which has been running for nine years, has become an important community collaboration between NOE and Auchan before the start of the school year. This year’s edition also embraced environmental awareness, by avoiding the need to print approximately 200,000 paper flyers and significantly reducing paper consumption.
“As parents, we know exactly what it feels like when a child is excitedly preparing for school and wants to have everything they need. For families with several school-age children, these expenses quickly add up, and many families struggle to afford even the basic school supplies. That is why this collection is important to us! It feels good that every year there are those who are willing to give others, even just a little something. These small donations come together to provide much-needed support to thousands of families at this time of year. Thank you to everyone who helped 5,000 children start the school year with the supplies they need. Thank you to Auchan and the Hungarian Red Cross for their partnership, and to our volunteers for their perseverance and selfless help!” said Gábor Herbert, President of NOE.
