How safe and inclusive are European schools for LGBTQI young people? A new survey from IGLYO is inviting young people across Europe to share their experiences and help shape safer and more inclusive education systems.
The IGLYO LGBTQI School Survey 2026 is the second edition of IGLYO’s pan-European survey exploring the experiences of LGBTQI young people in education. The anonymous survey covers topics including school policies, discrimination and bullying, inclusion, wellbeing, support, and gender recognition at school.
The survey is open to LGBTQI young people aged 15 to 24 who have attended school in a Council of Europe country, as well as Russia, Belarus and Kosovo. IGLYO particularly encourages responses from young people from groups that may face additional barriers, including trans, non-binary and intersex youth, young migrants and refugees, disabled youth, and young people from ethnic minority backgrounds.
Taking approximately 15 minutes, the survey is available in more than 15 languages and is completely anonymous and confidential. IGLYO states that it does not collect information such as names, addresses, contact details, cookies or IP addresses that could directly identify respondents.
The findings will contribute to a comprehensive report with key findings and recommendations, alongside country-specific reports to support advocacy at national level. The results are intended to help policymakers and civil society organisations work towards education systems where LGBTQI learners can study free from violence, discrimination and fear.

COFACE members and partners working with young people, families, schools and education professionals are encouraged to share the survey with relevant networks and communities. Increasing participation will help ensure that the findings provide a meaningful picture of LGBTQI young people’s experiences across Europe.
