We are pleased to highlight the work of COFACE member Step by Step Parents Association in Croatia, which is involved in a new podcast series: NextGen Parenting. It is part of a new European initiative funded by the Erasmus+ programme and developed in partnership with organisations from different countries across Europe.
This initiative is designed to empower parents and educators to better navigate the digital world, fight gender stereotypes, and address different forms of violence in the digital age. It focuses on strengthening digital and media skills while raising awareness of online gender-based violence.
Through practical training, e-Academies, and AI-powered tools, the project aims to empower parents by providing them with the knowledge and resources they need to guide their children online and become positive digital role models.
The project brings together partners from different European countries to share their expertise and provide perspectives from different national contexts. Each partner has produced a podcast featuring interviews with experts and exploring topics such as cyber violence and digital safety. This Europe-wide partnership provides a valuable opportunity to compare different experiences, approaches, and practices across countries.
The topics addressed by NextGen Parenting are closely aligned with the work we are carrying out to promote the safety and well-being of young people in digital environments.
COFACE strongly advocates for greater recognition and support for initiatives such as NextGen Parenting at European level.
Programmes that strengthen the life and digital skills of families should be considered a priority to support adult education and life-long learning of parents and carers.
Investing in these initiatives means equipping families with the skills, knowledge and tools they need to navigate the digital space digital, to support their children in doing so safely and confidently.
