Leap assists families of children with disabilities to take action for an inclusive life. ith this vision and mission in mind, Leap has designed ‘The Leadership for Inclusion Series’ to provide a strong foundation to assist people with disabilities live meaningful lives in their communities.
A growing recognition of the challenges faced by care systems in the EU is leading to promising steps towards stronger support for family carers. COFACE is deeply engaged in shaping this agenda, advocating for comprehensive policies as outlined in its revised European Charter for Family Carers.
Ahead of the World Day for Overcoming Extreme Poverty on 17 October 2024, COFACE's member, APF France Handicap, highlighted the severe poverty affecting people with disabilities, with 2 million living below the poverty line for life.
In its statement on 18th October, the Network of European LGBTIQ Families Associations (NELFA) indicated that it stands in full solidarity with its Italian member association, Famiglie Arcobaleno, following the approval of the Varchi Law, which criminalises seeking surrogacy abroad.
COFACE is co-leading the Transnational Family Dynamics in Europe network's policy group, which recently published a policy brief on the EU Pact on Migration and Asylum. It contributes to the ongoing debate on the EU Pact on Migration and Asylum (hereinafter ‘the Pact’), which was adopted in Spring 2024.
We are pleased to welcome and introduce COFACE’s newest member: The CNAFAL (Conseil National des Associations Familiales laïques) who works to protect and promote the well-being of families and all that contributes to it.
This event, co-organised by COFACE Families Europe & EAEA, will take place in the COFACE office in Brussels. It will unite participants to explore how integrating the family perspective into education and training programmes can drive meaningful system change.
The aim of this working group is to bring together COFACE members working on work-life balance matters and disability rights, to kick-start a discussion on the work-life balance of parents and carers with disabilities. We will discuss relevant EU legislation, and collect information on challenges and good practices. This is an internal meeting, with some guest speakers.
