The COFACE network welcomes a new member, Associação Bravery Devotion. Based in Portugal and founded in 2022, Bravery Devotion is a non-profit association dedicated to empowering women entrepreneurs, particularly those running microbusinesses, often while juggling caregiving responsibilities.
COFACE Families Europe is pleased to share a new initiative from our member organization, Fundación Isadora Duncan, which has launched a dedicated website to raise awareness about economic violence against women.
Violence against women is not limited to physical or psychological aggression. It also takes a more insidious, but equally destructive form: economic violence. COFACE Families Europe’s member based in Belgium, The Ligue des familles and nine other organizations are calling for a universal and automatic alimony fund, based on the French or Quebec model, through which all alimony claims would pass – not just unpaid situations.
On International Equal Pay Day 2024, COFACE member FIAPAS took a strong stand against economic violence targeting women in the workplace. Economic violence refers to practices that undermine women’s financial autonomy and security, often hidden behind unequal pay, denied labor rights, or exploitation within family businesses.
The Foundation for Single Parent Families “Isadora Duncan” based in Leon (Spain) and member of COFACE, has been working for many years against gender violence and launched a campaign to make economic violence visible and to work on its prevention. The campaign includes the design and elaboration of different materials and resources as tools for information, prevention and awareness-raising.
